Under the theme of 'Finding Connections to Society Through Wacom’s Instruments and Technology,' we are exploring new ways to meaningfully engage with society through experiences that use our instruments and technology as the medium. In September 2024, we held our first internal workshop for our team, and based on that foundation, we extended an experiential opportunity to the broader community. This is just the beginning—like planting seeds, we are committed to nurturing these initiatives with care, hoping they will take root and flourish. In this article, we will share insights from this journey, documenting each step of our growth.
Creating an experiential opportunity with our team
In September 2024, we held a workshop where team members could create personalized name tags using our pen display tablet. The workshop aimed to share the joy of creativity while also equipping team members with the skills to host similar workshops in their own communities. Together, we walked through the entire process—from going over the essential materials to finalizing the workshop templates.
Ten team members interested in creating and organizing workshops took part in the session. Each of them crafted a unique name tag, and we received enthusiastic feedback like, "I’d love to host something like this in my own community" and "I want to keep learning so I can apply this to my future work." Although the team members have not hosted their own workshops yet, we hope this experience will inspire them to take the next steps toward bringing their ideas to life.
Creating an experiential opportunity in the community
In September 2024, we also hosted a charity workshop in a community committed to supporting rabbit rescue efforts. The workshop was designed for rabbit enthusiasts in the community, giving participants the chance to create personalized "My Bunny Name Tags," by adding their bunny’s name to complete the piece.
The event spanned a single day and welcomed 30 enthusiastic participants, many of whom were newcomers to using Wacom instruments. Each person immersed themselves in the creative process, meticulously holding photos of their bunnies, fine-tuning fur colors, and adding intricate details to the eyes. Several participants expressed their intentions for the name tags, sharing sentiments like, "I’ll keep it in my rabbit’s emergency kit" and "I’ll attach it to my rabbit carrier bag."
As we explored the potential of Wacom’s instruments and technology within this enthusiastic rabbit-loving community, we observed participants expressing their passion through the creative use of Wacom’s tools. By channeling that enthusiasm and creativity into a tangible creation—a personalized name tag—we were able to enhance their experience, making it a memorable takeaway for everyone involved.
The participation fees collected from the workshop were donated to a local group dedicated to rabbit rescue efforts in the community. As a charity workshop, this session also served as an exciting experimental initiative for us.
At Social Initiatives, we are committed to exploring the impact Wacom can have on society by creating experiential opportunities centered around the theme of ‘Finding Connections to Society Through Wacom Instruments and Technology.’ Our goal is to continually reflect on how we can enhance our contributions to society in collaboration with our team members and the communities we serve.
